Okay...so several days ago I unveiled my ambitious plan to continue my lifelong education by reading every single piece of literature that could be considered a Great and Influential Text since the beginning of time. This is obviously going to take a while, because there are a great many Great Works that I've never read...hell, I only ever read Hamlet for the very first time last week, and I expect it to take months or years for me to get through the ancient Mesopotamian and Greek canons alone. So I'm starting out a little less ambitiously, with the list that
vent22 posted a few weeks ago. Or at least I'm turning it into a meme and posting it on LJ with the ones I've read marked, so I can see where I stand.
( 1,001 books [novels only, apparently] among the ones one should read before dying )
